Khaos

Director of Product & Design

September 2023 – Today

I lead Product, Design and Research for the Khaos Machine, our flagship storytelling intelligence engine for screenwriters. As a Product Leader, I developed the Gears operational framework, for efficient cross-organizational workflow. As the founding designer, I established the brand identity and genesis design systems and built the Khaos website.

Building supportive Ai for creative humans

Nine months after ChatGPT was unleashed on the world, it spawned an opportunistic new era to build products with impact. Passionate about visual storytelling, technology and the intersection of the two; I teamed up with K Mills to build the next generation of pro-tools for visual storytellers. From the ground up, we built a company with a customer-driven focus, a scalable production pipeline, and first-of-their kind products.

Everyone has a story to tell. We’re building accessible tools for creatives and providing new, efficient and effective ways to work, collaborate and tell their stories.

Khaos Machine

As founding designer at Khaos, I created our storytelling intelligence engine from 0→1. This work involved understanding how screenwriters think, work, and collaborate and then translating those insights into a product. Building from the ground up meant establishing not just the interface, but the core patterns for how writers would interact with and incorporate intelligence tools in their creative process.

Gears Framework

I developed the proprietary Gears framework to define how Product, Research, Design, and Development organizations integrate at Khaos. This wasn't just documentation—it became the operational system that allows our distributed team to collaborate effectively and make decisions at startup speed. The framework drew on my managerial experience outside design, bridging strategic thinking with the practical realities of building products with limited resources.

I developed the Gears operational framework to orchestrate how Product, Research, Design, and Engineering integrate workflows into a continuous cycle of discovery, prototyping and production.

Branding

I established complete brand identity of Khaos, developing our logo, color palette, typography, imagery, and usage guidelines. I built the brand library in Figma and deployed it across our entire ecosystem—from our web application to khaos.tools and internal tools. This work ensured visual consistency as we scaled, allowing our small team to move quickly while maintaining a professional, cohesive presence across all touchpoints.

Building beyond design

Khaos challenged me to expand beyond traditional design execution into shaping how a product organization operates. Working in a startup environment meant wearing multiple hats, and this breadth of responsibility helped me understand the full lifecycle of building a product, and not just designing within it.

and creating for a new industry

Moving from consumer media to filmmaking tools required learning an entirely new domain. I immersed myself in understanding screenwriting workflows, production pipelines, and the creative challenges facing independent storytellers. This research-driven, customer-focused approach ensured we built tools that genuinely served the craft rather than just showcasing technology.
